Web 4.0 · Bioregional DAO Protocol Network
"We are called to be architects of the future, not its victims."
— R. Buckminster FullerUbuntu — the foundation of everything we build.
UBEC Commons is a living project — connecting small farms, citizen scientists, educators, artists and communities through regenerative economics, bioregional intelligence, and open governance — rooted in place and Ubuntu philosophy. Growing in the open.
What we are building
Conventional systems are designed as closed, finished products. We work differently — each service we build is an experiment, a prototype, a seed. Some things are live. Some are growing. Some are still being imagined. All of it is open.
Four interconnected tokens on Stellar — Air, Water, Earth, Fire — embodying Ubuntu's principles of diversity, reciprocity, mutualism, and regeneration in an economic system.
Live on StellarDistributed sensor networks where environmental stewards observe, record, and earn. Each observation is an act of reciprocity, recorded on the blockchain.
Active networkGIS tools for visualising watersheds, ecoregions, and community assets — because place-based governance requires seeing the land as it actually is.
LaunchingA 3,000m² living laboratory in Müllrose, Brandenburg. Permaculture, soil science, sustainability literacy, and the Collective Threshold funding model — in practice.

GrowingHolonic governance structures for decentralised, place-based community decision-making. Built on the principle that those affected by a decision should shape it.

Find your pathway
UBEC is not a platform you use. It is a commons you join. Every participant brings something — knowledge, hands, observations, code, creativity, or simply presence. Find the entry point that resonates with who you are.
Farmer · Grower · Steward
Connect your land to the bioregional network. Earn tokens for sustainable practices. Join a Living Lab or start one.
Educator · Researcher · Student
Use our OER materials. Contribute observations. Run a sustainability literacy programme using the Pattern Language of Place.
Developer · Builder · Maker
Contribute to open-source code. Extend the API. Help build the governance tooling. Everything we make is licensed for reuse.
Artist · Communicator · Storyteller
Help us tell the story of what is being built here — through visual language, documentation, writing, or whatever form speaks through you.
Community organiser · Activist · Citizen
Start a local commons. Map your bioregion. Use the Collective Threshold model to fund projects in your community. Connect to the global network.
Curious · Unsure · Just arrived
You don't need to know exactly where you fit yet. Read, look around, ask questions. The commons is open to everyone who comes in good faith.
